The Big Tree Plant funding scheme hopes to encourage and support community groups to plant trees in neighbourhoods where people live and work.  The scheme can fund work such as community involvement, site surveys and expert advice as well as trees, planting materials, labour, and tree care and maintenance.

The 121 befriending project has recently launched the 121 social café in Tunbridge Wells. The cafe provides a safe and fun environment in which young people can meet new friends and give each other support. Members of the café have overcome their own personal barriers to feel happy and more optimistic about the future.

Diversifying your Income - Free Workshop

Start: 10:00, finish: 13:00 09 Feb 2012

Venue: Voluntary Action Within Kent, 17-19 Monson Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN1 1LS

        

This course looks at how organisations can move beyond grants to ensure their long term sustainability by developing new fundraising initiatives based around fundraising from individuals and local companies. 

Delegates will learn about:- 

  1. Developing an individual donor strategy
  2. Individual fundraising techniques
  3. Recruiting major donors
  4. Legacy fundraising
  5. Raising money from companies. 

The course will also cover any legal / regulatory requirements. 

The trainer for this course is Kathy Roddy, who has spent more than 17 years in the voluntary sector. She has run a national charity and is now a freelance trainer and consultant. 

She is a member of the Institute of Fundraising and holds their Certificate in Fundraising Management. She is also a qualified project manager. 

This workshop is provided for free through the Funding Buddies Project, operated by Action with Communities in Rural Kent through the BASIS 2 Big Lottery stream of funding.
