The Big Tree Plant funding scheme hopes to encourage and support community groups to plant trees in neighbourhoods where people live and work.  The scheme can fund work such as community involvement, site surveys and expert advice as well as trees, planting materials, labour, and tree care and maintenance.

The 121 befriending project has recently launched the 121 social café in Tunbridge Wells. The cafe provides a safe and fun environment in which young people can meet new friends and give each other support. Members of the café have overcome their own personal barriers to feel happy and more optimistic about the future.

  • Youth volunteering projects with VSU across Kent working with both adults and children with disabilities to enable them to partake in activities and fun weekend stays
  • Supporting young carers who are looking after parents or siblings with disabilities
  • Youth befriending of adults befriending young people who have communication difficulties or behavioral problems to take part in activities and socialize
  • Resource directories for disabled children and their families.  This contains useful websites, national organisations, local organisations (including inclusive  services), transport, rights and benefits, aids and equipment, leisure, short breaks, holidays, transition, education, direct  payments and health.   • Transport provision via Dial 2 Drive and Brighter Futures to assist people to travel independently to social and medical appointments
  • Organising the West Kent Disabled and Sensory Impaired Group. The group is for organisations working with people with disabilities across West Kent to network, share information and advice to others
