Local Healthwatch Kent - Press Release

21 Feb 2013

Helping people find their voice is crucial when it comes to health and social care.

From 1 April, a new organisation will be in place that will give people an opportunity to share their views about Kent’s health and social care services to see where they are doing well and how they could improve.

Supporting People To Achieve

We provide services to older people and those with disabilities to achieve independence through choice and provision.

VAWK works with adults with learning disabilities to create Person Centered Plans. These plans are created in conjunction with the persons family, support workers and PCP worker. These are in operation in both Tunbridge Wells and Swanley.

Transport is a problem for many older people and people with disabilities. VAWK runs two Community Transport Schemes covering the Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells areas. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to take people unable to access public transport to social and medical appointments, day centres, lunch clubs and to visit family. Members of the schemes can also access help with practical tasks such as form filling, prescription collection, shopping and more.
