Little Forest Children's Centre

In 2004 funding from Social Services was secured for the development of the Sherwood Children’s Centre Project, one of three interrelated family support projects in the Tunbridge Wells district. 

This centre, sited at the Sherwood Park Primary School and due to be operational by January 2007, will deliver early support to children and families in line with the Surestart model of service delivery.

The project is supported by a range of voluntary and statutory organisations.  In 2005, in line with “Every Child Matters: Change for Children”, Kent County Council entered into a partnership with Voluntary Action West Kent  to develop and manage the centre, with Sarah Warner being employed as Centre Manager.

The centre will provide numerous services, including:

• Early years’ provision
• Family support and parental outreach
• Child and family health services
• Parental involvement
• Links with Jobcentre Plus
• Training
• Benefits advice
• Links to specialist service for disabled children
