Voluntary Action West Kent (VAWK), formerly West Kent Council for Voluntary Service, was established in 1965 to provide support to voluntary organisations and community groups in the West Kent area.
We are a local infrastructure organisation providing support, advice, training and networking opportunities to over 180 members in the boroughs of Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & Malling and Sevenoaks & District.
Our overall mission is to promote, develop and support, through partnership, a dynamic and diverse voluntary and community sector.
To achieve this goal we have seven strategic aims:

Merger Agreed
We are delighted to announce that on 1st January 2009 Voluntary Action West Kent and VSU Youth in Action merged to form one organisation. The formal merger agreement was signed on 9th December by VAWK's chairman, Roger Gibson and VSU's chairman, Paul Woodhouse
Our two organisations have a long history of working in partnership, working with young people and delivering infrastructure support to the voluntary and community sector across Kent. The merger provides an opportunity to improve and strengthen services offered across the county whilst maintaining a local focus, particularly for adult and youth volunteering. VSU Youth in Action will retain its own branding under the VAWK umbrella for all youth volunteering and youth projects.
This is an exciting time for both organisations and we look forward to working with you all in the future.

Every Action Counts (EAC) is a Defra-funded programme engaged national and local third sector organisations in work to protect and improve our environment and to deliver sustainable development solutions. The programme ran from autumn 2006 until March 2009.
The Every Action Counts website will remain active until end of June, and you can still access a host of useful information on how to make your organisation more environmentally sustainable
Voluntary Action West Kent has also signed the Third Sector Declaration on Climate Change
